DMS Racing: The Team

Dave Dahlin Owner, Driver	Hi, my name is Dave and I’m the owner and driver. I have always had a need for speed, and a passion for drag racing since I was very young. I grew up in the Southern California area where my Dad Darrell, and my uncles were heavily involved in the drag racing circuit. I started racing at Pamona Raceway, and Lyon’s drag strip in Long Beach. As soon as I was old enough to drive my own car I was at the track and racing. Over the years I’ve had many different race cars, and in 2000 I had professional training with Frank Hawley School of Racing which really help me develop my driving skills, and encouraged me to start taking racing to a new level. I’ve always had the encouragement and help of my family, and now I’ve put together the talented successful race team I have today. Before the 55 Chevy I race today, I raced a 69 Pontiac Firebird that ran in the B/C Gas category. Then I decided I needed to go faster (again), so here I am. I’m a partner at California Restoration based out of Tracy and Elk Grove, and I live in Elk Grove with my beautiful wife Kaye, I also have a Daughter. Come out meet the crew, and watch us race, we’d love to see you at the track!

Kaye Dahlin Owner, Awesome Head Cook	My name is Kaye Dahlin, I’m married to Dave Dahlin. When I started dating Dave I knew nothing about drag racing. Still don't really. My first experience was at Sacramento Raceway, and couldn't believe that I was dating someone that was doing burn-outs. "What would my family back home in Australia think, how embarrassing?" I don't think he could have picked anyone less interested in cars to marry. So to show my support in this dangerous, life threatening, expensive hobby of his, I prepare all the meals for the crew (and the odd passerby).

Charlie Richter Crew Chief	I'm the Assistant Crew Chief, Charlie Richter, recently retired after 26 years of service in the US Air Force as a KC-10A Extender Aircraft Production Superintendent. I'm an avid collector, buyer, seller and trader of classic golf clubs. I also frequently race my 1967 Pro Street Camaro at Sacramento Raceway and have been involved in drag racing for most of my life.

Teri Benson Team Manager	Hey everyone. I’m Teri— I’m Dave’s sister, and Team Manager. Our family has been involved with Drag racing forever, I seriously can’t remember a time when we weren’t. I love drag racing, and when Dave’s not watching I drive the car, (just kidding). I’ve been married to Mark for 25 years. I have a daughter that lives & works in Fairfield, and a son in the Army stationed in South Korea, headed to Iraq. (I miss those guys a lot). When we’re not at a race Mark and I love to ride around on our Fatboy Harley, and work on our farm (he likes the work part more than me). Stop by when your at the races, we’d love to meet you!

Darrell Dahlin Team Manager	We miss you and Mom so much, but we know you'll both be with us forever!

Randy Sanders Crew Member	My name is Randy and I've lived in Orange County, California for the last 15 years with my wife Shelly and our extended family. By profession, I'm an engineer at Northrop Grumman and have been for the past 33 years. I've been tinkering with motors ever since I was a young boy. It must be in my blood, because if anything has a motor, I am drawn to it. All types of motors pique my interest, from motorcyles and boats to cars. When I was young I raced motocross at Saddleback Hills. It's been a great experience working with the Alcohol....lick pit crew. I've learned alot, and the team is like one big family.

Shelly Sanders Assistant Cook	My name is Shelly and I 'm an alcohol...lick. By day I'm employed by an aerospace company in Los Angeles, but my real passion is hanging out with the Dahlin’s and helping out at the races. Obviously I was destined to be here because I took Auto shop in summer school when girls weren't allowed to take the class during the regular school year. I enjoy being a part of the team and pitching in as needed. My husband, Randy, and I have three adult children and four grandchildren.

Justin Rohrer Crew Member	My name is Justin Rohrer I met the Dahlin’s four years ago. Since then I have been hooked on drag racing and I have a great time being around the track and their family. The foods always good too!

Mark Benson Crew Member	Hi, my name is Mark Benson, my background is thirty years in the Instrumentation field. I have been trained and apprenticed on Air Force aircraft, refineries and their electronic control systems, motorcycles, and self taught on the occasional project car. When I met Teri we were cruising the strip with all the hot rods. One of which was her brother Dave’s 1st car. Alcohol and machines have been in my blood all my life. Only now the alcohol is being used to fuel Dave’s Pro Mod 55 Chevy. Come see us work and play together at the drag strip.

Jon Dahlin Crew Member	I’m Jon Dahlin, 33 years old, married with 3 kids. I live in Dixon, CA. I have been around cars since I can remember, always helping and learning from my Dad and brother as I grew up. There was always a car to be worked on around the house. I got my first fixer upper when I was 15 years old(1966 chevy 2 Nova) and that began the fascination with classic cars. I am currently working on a 65 Corvette that is being built for D gas.
